The final day of June 2012?

Hi all!  How is your last Saturday/Day of June for 2012?
It's official!?!  Pet's prefer sleeping in their own beds and you do them no favours when you allow them to sleep on your bed with you!

The South African Education Department had not delivered the text books to all the government schools in South Africa,  Particularly in the Mpumalanga Province, so this concerned mother filed a law suit against the South African government and got a court ruling that all government schools must have their textbooks delivered by the end of June!  What a shocking government, the school year starts in January every year here in South Africa!

The funky key-ring "gift" that came with the Pizza I ordered for my lunch today.  Not Gucci I know, but a very good way of marketing your company, promotional gifts.  I worked at such an orginisation for my friend, Christine De Ruig, for a few weeks in Joburg.

This Jo'burg man was so tired of housebreakings (6 or 7) into his home in Jo'burg , so he bought a pet tiger!  No joking, it was in a local magazine this week!  Well if he gets burgled again, the tiger will get a tasty snack!  He sees this as a future for tigers who are diminishing in population. Good idea?
Cape Town's name in Khoi San. They (the Khoi San people) have fought for this name sign for a few years now, persistence pays off, I guess!  Well done!
Well unfortunately that is all from me for today's blog posts folks!

Have a super Saturday further.

Last June Friday 2012 - divendres

Romeo, next door's cat, having a wash yesterday on my sleeping bag, on our couch.  They keep your body nice and warm (sleeping bags, but cats do too!) on cold winter nights when watching telly!

I was watching the television programme, The Only Way is Essex, last night.  The people who are featured in this series all seem like nice people, but this show does make the people in this show look shallow, all hair, make up and contact lenses.  I don't know any of them so I can't judge them?  They had a shot of one of, Mark's (one of the people featured in this documentary), soccer team's locker room sessions after a soccer match.  Some idiot had his big fat ass on one of the shots. Yuck!  Thank God it was not on during dinner time!

I am a monkey, my mother is a pig and my father a dragon! What are you?

A Chinese meal  kit, my sister Helen gave to me years ago (2002 I think, when she lived in Switzerland).  It has sat in my bed side draw for years and I have never opened it to see what was inside of it, until yesterday.  (two mini paper lanterns, two mini chopsticks with chopsticks rests, a tiny recipe book  that tells you how to cook different Chinese dishes, and the chinese Zodiac placemats.)  I love chinese food, it is apparently very healthy too.  I used to eat a lot of it in years gone by.  Last time it was 2005?  when I went on a holiday to Umhlanga all alone!  I like travelling by myself but I would not travel overseas alone, some nice flight attendant might decide my disability is drunkedness!  How stupid can you be?  I do not drink!

Today's weather in Cape Town, it is freezing cold, but at least it is sunny!  So tragic, the floods in England, close to where one of my aunties lives too!  She phoned us yesterday afternoon, but the floods were last night?  I hope she is fine?

Hi all!  How is your Friday?

I saw this morning on Sky News that the USA elections only decide who is the new president in November?  Go Mitt Romney, I think you are going to be the USA's new president?

I saw on my Ad Dynamo account that I have made a grand total of R8-29 from the ads that appear on my blog posts.  A grand total of R25-29  if the adverts I have put on my blogs myself (Craig's and Thelma's business card!) are added in to my total!  Watch out here comes the undercover Millionaire,me?!?  No?

Well I think I will sign off from blogging for today!  Have a great day further folks!

Un conte dimarts - A Tuesday Tale

Hi all!  How is your last Thursday?
How is your Tuesday?  It is a sunny day, here today, but it is freezing.  Come back sunny balmy hot days of summer?  We love you!

My oh my John!?!
It was a good thing John Travolta was getting smooched by wife Kelly Preston on the "Savages" red carpet Monday night, because the actor hasn't been getting much kindness in the rest of his public life.
Travolta -- recently hit with a couple of now-you-see-'em, now-you-don't federal lawsuits brought by "John Doe" masseurs who accused the actor of sexual battery and then had their suits dismissed without prejudice -- has some new paperwork crossing lawyer Martin Singer's desk.
A lawsuit from a third accuser, a former cruise ship VIP steward who alleges Travolta assaulted him on a Royal Caribbean Cruises sail in 2009, was filed last week in U.S. District Court.

Was Dr. Kinsey Right?
The Cape Town Stadium that was built for the 2010 soccer world cup, is rumoured to be demolished!?!  No joking,  my friend Ann told me about this yesterday and it is in today's Cape Argus Newspaper.    What a fuss and nonsense FIFA created in 2010 regarding the world cup, they practically took over the country for a short while.   They insisted that we built this new stadium (at a cost of R4.5 billion). All the local people who thought they would make a fortune during the World Cup here in South Africa never did!  Was it worth it?

An English fry up is unhealthy, as we keep being told!  One of the newspaper reviewers on Sky News this morning, commented that his grandfather ate such a breakfast every morning of his life and he died at a ripe old age.  My great grandfather did also but he added beetroot to his plate of bacon and eggs.

Unfortunately that is all the pearls of wisdom from me for today!

10 a.m. fins les 13:00 de Treball 10 a.m. until 13:00 Working

248 Blouberg Road, St. Luke's Hospice shop this morning.

My "department" at our shop is the books, it involves stacking the shelves and other than that I do Linen, price checks for customers who want a discount from the price on the price tag/sticker.  That hardly ever happens (that you  will get a reduction from the items original price on the tag, but just to please the customer I have to go and ask!?  Some customers remove the price tags in the hopes of a reduction.  What a waste of time!  We know the prices off by heart?

The entrance and parking lot to the Hospice shop is blocked off by these roadworks.  Some people drive on the pavement to access the shop. My mom parks on a parking lot near to the shop and I walk to the shop.  My friend Ann, who we pick up from her house in Tableview, on Wednesday mornings, along with some other people are too worried to drive on the pavement!  So apparently these road works will be finished in October!  Until then?

I was worried about next door's cat, Romeo, this morning, as we had a heavy downpour  of rain last night, and he was not at my window when I woke up this morning.  He appeared at the sliding door at around 8 am,  I was so happy to see him!  I don't know if the feeling was mutual?!?

My free German Language Interactive CD and phrase book I was allowed to take home from our shop today!  It was at no cost for me today!  Sometimes it is one of the "bonuses" of the job!  I learnt German at High School, for 3 years, it was a five year subject, but I had to leave school two years early.  You forget some of a language if you do not use it regularly.  Need to brush up!?!
Hi all!  How is your Wednesday?

All my text for today's blog posts is under the picture it pertains too!

Easy Peasy?

Have a super day further folks!

Dimarts conte .. Tuesday tale..

I love making food!  Being creative and producing something is super view my new blog my recipes if you want last week's or these weeks recipes.
recipes I like

Hi all!  How is your Tuesday?

It is cold, wet and windy here today. Hope it is better wherever you are. Weather is a large deciding factor when considering relocation to Europe or elsewhere. When the sun shines in Africa it is great and you somehow forget about the crime, corruption, poverty and other negativity here,(does that make me sound shallow?) also the fact that  we are far away from the "developed" world. Last night's Secret Millionaire USA featured Las Vegas and apart from the flashing lights and apparent wealth on the main Strip there seemed to be some very dodgy areas with a far amount of gun crime and poverty.

At last week's hospice shop volunteers' lunch one of the gentlemen said he had wondered why I had chosen to help out at Hospice, however having viewed the short film which was made on my cancer journey back in 1997 all was made clear.
The rain is now lashing at the windows, the wind is howling and it is obvious why this is called The Cape of Storms!

This week's recipe, which I shall cook on Thursday or Friday, is Sweet and Sour Beef.

Signing off my blogs for today. Have a great day further folks.

dilluns - Monday!

Hi all! How is your Monday?

Today is the last Monday for the month of June 2012!  Make it a good one!?!

It has been cold, all day here in Bloubergstrand, today.  Funny that it is warmer and sunnier compared to England (comparing from the Sky news weather forecast for the UK today) and it is summer in Europe?!?

I was sorting out my blogs just now, and I accidently lost the text of one of them. It is Strange how certain functions of the keys on your keyboard have different actions in different programmes.  I lost all my info on one of my blogs!  Oh well.  Then I had to change my blog settings on some of my blogs!  I think I accidently deleted what I shouldn't have!

They had a man. who had accidentally on purpose, hacked into a computer or two, on the local documentary programme, Carte Blanche last night.  He has now been employed by the FBI and other great companies, to avoid similar things happening to them.  He did spend 2 years in prison for his crime but what an inspiring story.  From zero to hero!  I can't believe how easy it was for him to do his  internet hacking!   And they always tell us that internet banking is safe!  Nothing wrong with the old fashioned way of banking. Apparently we all leave "back doors" open on the internet that cyber criminals can't wait to enter.

A Firewall programme definately necessary if you do internet anything!

Well unfortunately that is all from me for my blog postings for today.  Have a dapper day further folks.

Signing off for all my blogs for today!

En klottra för söndag eftermiddag-A scribbling for Sunday Afternoon

Flight prices for the London from Today's Sunday Times Newspaper.  It's the Olmypics soon, so book now and save?

Today's weather in the Western Cape
Hi all

How IS your Sunday going?

It has been a cold and wet day here today!  As the weather forecast above shows.

I found this recipe in a magazine a few years ago.  It was this week's final recipe that I decided to cook last night.  It is really easy to make, and tastes very good indeed!  Give it a try?

Romeo, next door's cat decided to take a cat nap on my bed after lunch today.  I thought that he had gone home as I hadn't seen him for a while, but he was sleeping on my bed!  I don't really like pets on beds so after I snapped this photo, I took him off my bed, he is asleep on a bit of newspaper on the desk, next to me at the moment.  Why do cats need 16 hours of sleep a day?  What do they do, if they are domestic cats?

The movie, The Help, which I rented from the video store yesterday is super.  I can't believe how racist people used to be!  People are people, we are all basically the same.  One poet wrote a poem with the words, "am I not a man, am I not cooled and warmed by the same sun, do I not think the same thoughts or have the same feelings? ..." but I cannot remember the rest of this poem or who the author of it is, we did it in English Class when I was 15?!?  I guess I have seen the movie now so there is no need to read the book of the Help? I love languages that's why I was in the A set English Class at St.John's College, I guess if you like a particular subject you excell at it?  Maths and Science are not my strong point!

Anyway that is all from me for today's blog postings folks!

Have a superb Sunday further!

Simply Saturday....Helt enkelt lördag ....

Hi all!  How is your Saturday?  My blog post for yesterday was all messed up by the blog gremlins!  I saved it and tried to publish the content to my blog but the text I had typed disappeared somewhere!

IATA (the International Airline Association) are considering cancelling Air Zimbabwe's membership according to last night's news.  I went on the web and Air Zimbabwe (IATA code UM) currently have a fleet of 6 aircraft.  Only 5 of their aircraft are operational, their BAE 146 is stored somewhere.  They have an AirbusA340 on order with Airbus, 3 Boeing 737's - one of them was grounded at Cape Town Airport for a while, as they failed to pay for their air fuel! Their two Boeing 767 aircraft are over 23 years old! So a once "great"airline is about to exist no more.  I have flown Air Zimbabwe 2 or 3 times, and I knew somebody who used to fly with them on their flights from Harare to Cyprus.   Not the best airline, but not too awful either.

Sky News' newspaper reviewers the other morning had a report on how joining religious orders has grown by 33% in the UK, in the last year.  I don't think I would make a good nun!?!  I might have the above scenario happen to me under my habit!

The government of Uraguay  are thinking of selling weed to it's citizens who want to buy weed.  So that they don't loose out on a lucrative market!  Their national airline, PLUNA will get more passengers then I guess!  Competing directly with an airline from a European city that also has a relaxed policy regarding drug use?
Tonight I am cooking Chicken and mushroom hot pot, from a recipe I found in a magazine a few years ago.  It is very delicious this recipe, and easy to cook too!

My 5 blogs are getting a few reads from viewers all over the world!  Cool!?!  I need a few more comments on my Service? blog before I start publishing it though.  Thank you all of you who visit my blogs regularly.
And? The same? and the rest of them!

Unfortunately that is all from me for my blogs for this Saturday!  Have a great weekend further folks!

Tisdag saker - Thursday stuff

Lovely!

Traumerei Restaraunt, Franschoek

My mom at Traumerei Restaraunt. Franschoek Today
Out of my car window today!

extract From the cat's little Instruction Book
Hi all!  How has your Tuesday been?

It has been a typical Cape winter day, today, cold and raining!

Mom, Marti and I went to Franschoek today.  We were going to go to a restaurant recommended to me by my friend Brenda, over lunch at Doodles yesterday, Babylon Storen, we never went there in the end, they have a R10 entrance fee per person, just to enter their Winefarm.  What a liberty!  So you lost out on 3 lunch guests who went to Traumerei Restaurant in Franschoek instead.  So  overcharge, and loose out on revenue!

The food at Traumerei was excellent and they had a wonderful atmosphere in the retaurant today, it was cold and wet outside but they had a roaring fire blazing inside at the fireplace, very cozy.  It felt like a European Cafe, and I guess it is run by Germans or Austrians from the Restaurant's name?!?  Good coffee and food,  I had a Chicken Tramezini and it was a generous portion that they served, I am having 1 tramezini for my super, as there were 3 of them on my plate and I was very full after 2 of them, "I had the elegance of sufficiency!"  No need to look it up, this saying means you have dined, enjoyed and are full!

Romeo, next door's cat, was in our house when we got home, about four or five hours after we had left for the Winelands this morning.  He was not in the house when we left, is he magician cat?  There was only my bathroom window, which was open a small amount, which he must have entered through.

According to last nights news, South Africa is one of the most unhappiest countries in the world, according to an international survey!  We have sunshine folks, most of the time, so why are you all unhappy?  We have 11 official languages, 9 provinces and a goodish interest rate, if you have money in a bank account. So cheer up my fellow country men?!?

Unfortunately that is all from me, for today's blog postings folks!  Have a great day further!

Wednesday Words - Onsdag ord

This was on the notice board of the bookroom of our shop, today!  It  appealed to me?

Silver Service

Hi all!  How is your Wednesday?

It has been a lovely sunny day here in Bloubergstrand (where I live and the restaurant Doodles is) / Table View (248 Blouberg Road where the St.Luke's hospice shop is) today.  There has been a cold and icy wind blowing today, but what's the use in complaining?

Nothing to write on today's blog post that might change the world!

Me and some of the other St. Luke's Hospice shop, volunteers, had lunch at Doodles Restaurant on the beachfront after our 3 hour morning shift today, The Pensioners menu was R38, whereas on the normal menu. my medium size Pizza cost R58?  Why?  Same food?  I am eligible for a disabled pension in South Africa, but it is quite difficult to get through the application process.  I gave up a few years ago applying for one, as the line of people waiting was so long, the health department worker had attitude and would never have served the volume of people waiting to receive or apply for a disability pension that day!  I love South Africa, they are now changing the Pension system to a card system and all pensioners who previously registered, must do so again!  What a load of fuss and nonsense for +- R1000-00 a month!

My 3 blogs are so popular these days!  Cool!  A bit of a money earner!

Anyway not much to write on todays blog posts!?!

Signing off for all my blogs for today!

Have a great day further folks!

Hi all! How is your Tuesday?

It is a super sunny day here in Bloubergstrand today.  When the wind blows today it is an icy cold wind, probably from the freezing cold Atlantic Ocean.  So not all good or all bad weather-wise  today!

The video clip with Sharon Osborne on it, was on Sky News today.  She is asking anyone with faith or who is thinking positively to think about her son Jack who has just been diagnosed with MS, she believes this will be helpful.  I believe her statement 100% . I feel that people's prayers and  thoughts had an amazing influence on my recovery in 1997.  Her tears on this clip were tears that you can feel even through a TV screen.  I know about 3 or 4 people with MS, as I posted to yesterday's blog postings, and they all thought an MS diagnosis was the end for them, thank GOD it wasn't, just a huge change in their life.

I find the information below interesting and I hope you might do too....?

Cat's understanding of language
Quote by Jean Marion, "I was reincarnated from a cat".

Cats learn sounds... the word food sounds a lot different than the word No!  They understand and learn to associate sounds with both the attitude that they are said with and the outcome.

If I say 'time for night night' every night, not only is he hearing the same thing every night, but he is sensing the change of clothes, lights turning off, computers shutting down, a routine that he knows well.

They do not understand speech.  They understand what the sounds lead to.

Just as they know to come running when they hear the cat food hitting the bowl, and hide when they hear the vacuum cleaner.  They learn routines and a particular timber in our voice.  Either loving, exasperated, baby tones, playful banter.

They are smart, just not that smart..

Dogs understanding of language

Sure, most dogs understand the basics --"fetch," "sit" and "stay." But if you have the motivation and patience, you will probably be able to teach your dog even more than 100 words. Stanley Coren, a psychologist who has performed a significant amount of research on the subject of dog intelligence, suggests that average trained dogs know about 160 words [source: Coren].
Some dogs even show a vocabulary as vast as a human toddler's.

So who is the smarter pet? Debatable!  Cats or dogs?

Unfortunately that is all from me for today!

Signing off for all my blogs for this Tuesday Afternoon.  Have a delightful day furth folks!

Måndag memo

Hi all!  How is your Monday?

"It's a new day, it's a new dawn and I'm feeling fine!"

It has been a super sunny day here in the Western Cape today.  It is a bit cold today.  No use in complaining though, it will be hot again by October!  At least you sort of know that it will be hot here again, weather wise, when the summer season is here again in South Africa.  Not like other continents in the world, where it is cold even in the height of their summer season.

Jack Osbourne vows to ‘adapt and overcome’ after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis

Terrible news to hear that Jack is not well.  I know about 3 or 4 people with this awful disease, not good!

Romeo, next door's cat, has been here most of today again.  So nothing new regarding him!

I exercised today - it really makes you feel good!  Getting moving prevents all sorts of diseases but unfortunately not all of them!

Anyway on that happy thought, I shall Bid y'all a fond farewell!

Happy Birthday Helen! - Pen-blwydd Hapus Helen!

Hi all!  How is your Sunday?

Today it is my sister, Helen's 38th Birthday.  Have a super day! Gosh where did the time go? I remember her 11th Birthday Party, maybe the memory is from a photo we have, but I seem to recall some of this event in my memory.

It started off cold and overcast this morning.  The sun was out for an hour or so earlier, this afternoon, however  it is freezing cold and cloudy once more this mid afternoon.
Oh well, life goes on!

Our Parish priest told us a funny joke, after mass at church today.  It is not often that you remember priest's joke's as they are mostly silly, but our current Priest is funny when he tells jokes!  They are looking for money from the parishoners once again at church, why do churches always bring up the money issue?  Anyway there's a 50 cent piece and a R200 note talking to each other about where they have been since the last time they met.  The R200 note has been to all these exotic places but the 50 cent piece says he has mostly been to church!  In other words people do not give too much money to churches!  And there's us all thinking that the Catholic church is one of the wealthiest churches in the world!  Where does the money go?  Maybe it is none of our concern?  Give and you shall receive?

Romeo, next door's cat has been in and out all day, as usual.  I think he is outside presently as I have not seen him in a while,

Elaine, gave me a voucher to redeem at her Spa and a box of chocolates yesterday afternoon when she came for a visit, for the pamphlets I distributed for her Spa.  I can't believe she got so many bookings from the pamphlets I posted in my neighbours letter boxes.  Statistically if you put 100 brouchers out you will get about 8 or 9 people interested in your product/service. I guess the fact that most of my neighbours are her clients at the Spa helps? Statistics are never accurate anyway!  or at least that's what my marketing book told me, when I did a correspondence course a few years ago.

Anyway I seem to have run out of things to put on today's blogs.

So I guess I will have to say adieu to you!  Have a super Sunday further folks!

Signing off for all my blogs for today.

P.S.Anybody think that I can take a sleeping bag on my upcoming long haul flights?  I get so uncomfortable on long haul flights and the little blankets they put on your seat in the plastic wrapping could not even fit a 12 year old!  Just a thought.  Only positive suggestions from my blog readers will be read!
