This death toll has got worse since I was a child. They used to have boards up on the roads of the deathtoll, as I recall it was in the mid hundreds. Talking on mobile phones apparently more dangerous than drunk driving, but nobody (the traffic departments) never really do much about this problem. They were confiscating cellphones of drivers seen talking on them but like most things, they gave up on this policy. Why???
